We’ve just undertaken some portrait work of Drum and Bass supremo Roni Size and composer William Goodchild. In an incident almost as embarrassing as when my flash gear died during a once in a lifetime shoot with supermodel Sophie Dahl, I got hopelessly lost trying to find the studio

and arrived sweating, flustered and in exactly the sort of state you never want to be in when meeting a musical legend. Roni was about to head off for another meeting but, after cutting my garbled apologies short with the phrase “Stop talking and get shooting” graciously stayed for a further five minutes to let me get the shots. Nice guy.
The pictures will help to promote a one-off evening commissioned especially for the opening celebrations of Colston Hall’s new foyer development. Roni Size is working with orchestrator William Goodchild on a piece that combines his own musical influences with that of his band Reprazent, Bristol’s chamber orchestra The Emerald Ensemble and a choir.  The concert is taking place on Friday 25th September at 8pm.
